Number benches 1 through 6. Set Number of groups to 6 and choose Make groups. Match each group number to a bench and compare its member count with that bench’s usable places.
Example output
Illustrative result. A new draw can produce a different selection or order.
| Group | Assigned entries |
|---|---|
| 1 (4) | 24, 12, 1, 13 |
| 2 (4) | 22, 10, 3, 15 |
| 3 (4) | 20, 8, 5, 17 |
| 4 (4) | 18, 6, 7, 19 |
| 5 (4) | 16, 4, 9, 21 |
| 6 (4) | 14, 2, 11, 23 |
Check the result
Each group has four people and each of the 24 entries appears once. If one bench loses a place, the room has only 23 places. Rerunning the same grouping cannot solve the capacity shortfall. Group size is balanced. Skills, ages and other characteristics are not used in the assignment.
